Knowing Your Stores: CVS and Rite Aid
CVS
Coupon Policy:
CVS will accept 1 manufacturer’s (MQ) per item AND 1 CVS Q per item. You can also use 1 $5/$25 Q per transaction.
CVS loyalty cards have a great feature that the other drugstores do not. They can be linked to Upromise, which is a college savings plan.
What is Upromise?
Upromise links to your credit cards, debit card or store loyalty cards. When you buy from a participating company or brand, a percentage of you purchase is deposited into your secure account. You can use the money towards college.
Right now, Upromise is giving away $250,000 in college scholarships! For more information, you can click HERE

Special Savings Situations
Extra Care Bucks ~
Extra Care Bucks (ECBs) are similar to Walgreens RRs with a couple of differences. First, to receive them it requires a store loyalty card. The ECBs print after the transaction is complete. You can also scan the kiosk (looks kind of like an ATM just inside the door) when you enter and receive special offers. Not all stores have these kiosks but if in doubt, ask the cashier if the store has one. The more people that ask for it, the more likely the store will get one in the near future.
The number of ECBs you can receive of the same product varies but the limit is always listed in the sales ad. The limit is per card. You can have two store loyalty cards per household.
The great thing about ECBs is that they track your use for you. Your eligibility for each deal prints out on the bottom of you receipt. That way, you can see if you have reached your limit by glancing at the bottom of your receipt.
Unlike RRs, you can use multiple ECBs as payment within a single transaction is allowed.
In this example, if you spend $15 on selected products, you will get $5 ECBs.

Purchase:
1 Dove Lotion $6.99
2 Dove Deodorants $5
Total: $16.99
Eligible for $5 ECB
The following is an example using coupons:
Transaction
1 Dove Lotion ($6.99) = $6.99
2 Dove Deodorants (2/$5) = $5.00
- $2 ($2/1 Dove Lotion MQ)
- $2 ($1/1 Dove Deodorant)
Total OOP: $7.99
$5 ECB Prints for next transaction
Total OOP = $7.99
- $5 ECBs for next trip = $2.99
80% SAVINGS!!
Rite Aid
Coupon Policy:
Rite Aid’s coupon policy is similar to the other drugstores because you can use 1 manufacturer’s (MQ) per item AND 1 Rite Aid Q per item. You may also use one $5/$25 Q per transaction.
A unique feature to the Rite Aid coupons is that Rite Aid offers coupons for watching videos (commercials) on their website. They call this program Video Values.
Occasionally, Rite Aid offers Qs for a $25 gift certificate when you transfer a prescription.
Price Comp:
YES ~ Believe it or not, some stores do offer a competitive price match if you bring in the store advertisement.
Special Savings Situations
Single Check Rebates ~
Single Check Rebates (SCR) are offered on various different products each month. You can find the listing in a circular (different from the weekly ad) just inside the front door of the store or online HERE. Applying is simple if done online. You enter your receipt information and the system automatically tracks the rebates for which you qualify. These rebates pay out regardless of your final total and that means, sometimes, you can actually MAKE money.
Take a close look at what the rebate looks like so you do not accidentally throw it away.

These checks may be cashed at your bank or used towards a Rite Aid purchase.
