This week, with our letter focus being E, I decided to try an “Egg Three Ways” taste test. Don’t look at me strange. It is simple really. You just prepare eggs in three different ways and then serve them to your child. Allow them to pick their favorites.
I chose to serve boiled eggs, scrambled eggs with cheese, and egg in a basket.
If you have never prepared egg in a basket, also called “egg in a hole,” it is very easy.
Use a biscuit cutter to cut a small hole in a piece of bread. Drop a little butter onto a hot griddle (medium high heat) and let it melt. Place the bread on top of the butter puddle and crack the egg right over the hole.
Add a little salt and pepper to taste. When the egg seems set at least half way, flip it over and finish cooking.
Franc tickled me with his detailed pictures of the plate and asking me how to spell the different words. His favorite was the scrambled eggs with cheese.
Lira liked the way the egg in a hole looked but did not like the cooked yolk. So she picked around it and just ate the egg white. Her favorite was also the scrambled with cheese.
Not to be excluded, Ruble enjoyed making smudges on his paper but refused to eat the scrambled eggs. His favorite? The boiled egg.
