Need to Make Some Holiday Cash?

It is not very often that I publish the same post on all of my blogs, but this is something I feel very passionate about sharing so thanks for indulging me.

Several years ago, I came up with a crazy idea. What if I could make a gourmet apple looked like a turkey? What if it were completely edible? From that series of thoughts, I designed the Original Gourmet Turkey Apple and began to sell them to friends and family during the month of November.

The next year, I designed more apples for the Christmas season. The next year, I designed a couple for fall. This year, I added another to my fall collection.

Just as the numbers of designs have increased, so have the orders. Our family makes an average of $500 (profit) by selling these apples each year. We use the money to pay for Christmas or Autism Therapy bills.

As I have been thinking about my readers, I know that many of you guys are just like us and are struggling to find a way to finance Christmas without going into debt. Not only is this extremely stressful, it can take a lot of the joy from the holidays. (I know that Jesus is the reason for the season but when you have small children who expect presents on Christmas, it kind of eclipses the focus. Just being honest.)

While these apples have been my “baby” for years and it is fun to be the only person in the world making anything like this (as far as I know), it would be selfish for me to hold on to this money maker and not share it with you.

So, for a limited time, I am making my gourmet apple designs available to you so that you can use them to add income to your budget.

For just $25, you will receive:

  • Instructions for making gourmet apples
  • A list of supplies you will need (as well as the best place to get a deal)
  • Detailed designs for making The Original Turkey Apple, Santa Claus, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, and Frosty the Snowman.
  • An easy step-by-step plan for how to market your apples to your community.

You can easily sell these apples for $10 to $15 each. (Recommended prices are included in the kit but you can choose the price based on your area.)

This has not been an easy decision for me so please do not think I am just trying to make money. A tremendous amount of thought and prayer has gone into this. The only reason why I am charging for the instructions and designs is because of the potential lost sales right here during the best season for selling these apples. However, the benefits of helping your family far outweight any financial rewards I would receive by keeping this information to myself.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Update: Because I understand that it is hard to pay for something you cannot see, I wanted to give you an example of one apple included in the instructions. This is a picture of the turkey:

Hi, I read your post and am very curious at what these look like! I too struggle to find ways to make extra money especially at Christmas Time. My sisters and I are ‘crafty’ people and usually do local craft shows. However, last season, it was a major disappointment. I’m guessing it’s just the new economy, however, it hurt none the less. This sounds very interesting and has that ‘different’ appeal that might make it successful in selling at local craft shows. Is there any way you would send a picture of one for me to decide if I wanted to invest in this. I really enjoy doing crafts and doing the craft shows, but, it is so heartbreaking to put so much into something, for no one to appreciate and buy you know. Thanks for sharing your idea.

Becky, I will email you a picture of one apple but cannot post them as I am afraid the design would be stolen. I will email you shortly. Thanks for your interest!

I might be interested if I could see the what the finished product looks like…
I’m sorry I cannot justify spending $25 on something I am not totally sure about

Ellen, I understand completely. I cannot publish the pictures in the post to avoid someone taking the design without the kit but I can email you a picture of one of the apples. I will do that shortly.

Hi! Thank you so much for opening up such a wonderful business opportunity! My husband and I have a couple questions (which may be answered in the business kit). How much time does it take to make one apple? I know you mentioned four different varieties, but we’re just curious of the general time commitment involved. Also, about how many apples did you sell to make a $500 profit? If we need to purchase the kit to find these answers, that is totally understandable. We are very interested in this venture but want to be sure we have the time available for these cute little guys! Thanks again for being so generous and sharing your ideas with others :)

Hi Kristin! There are steps for some of the apples that can be done in advance. For instance, with the turkey (pictured), I make the head parts all at one time and keep them in the freezer. By doing that, I can make about 12 apples in 2 hours, including refrigeration time between layers. Honestly, I try not to make just one at a time because it tends to take the same amount of time to prep one apple as it does 12. The only difference is the time to dip each apple.

On average, I sell about 80 apples. Each apple costs about $3 to make, decorate and package. The cost of the items you need will vary based on your location and on which apple you prepare.

I know that this doesn’t answer all of your questions exactly but I hope it helps.

I, too, am very very interested but would love to see a sample of the Christmas apples. I understand your fear of people stealing your ideas, but before I shell out $25, I would really love an example! Thanks so much!
