If procrastination is killing your day, every day, then you really need to read Eat That Frog!: 21 Great Ways to Stop Procrastinating and Get More Done in Less Time.
Today, I’m reviewing what I have learned from Chapter Three and I have to admit that this chapter helped me to look at my daily to-do list in a different way. The focus is on the 80/20 principle which states 20% of your work will result in 80% of your results. Mr. Tracy says:
Often, one item on a list of ten tasks that you have to do can be worth more than all the other nine items put together. This task is invariably the frog that you should eat first.
Okay… I thought about it. I looked at my list. I looked around my house. Then, I focused on the one task that would make the most difference in my day. It worked. By knocking out the big frog before approaching the smaller tasks on my list, those easier tasks that I know I could knock out quickly, I was able to get more done. Eating that big, nasty frog first also made me feel better about myself and more motivated to keep going down my list of to-do items.
So, I sat down and looked at my list of goals and tried to decide which would be the biggest, most important frog. I need to tackle the one goal that will cause the biggest chain reaction of success and I think it is a tie between guest posting and writing an ebook. Now… to make the time to do it.
Do you find that the 80/20 rule is at work in your life? Do you attack the big jobs or the small jobs first?
