If the multiplication worksheets and fact cards with visual cues have not helped… If using the graphics organizers and cups have not helped… If you are still struggling with a way to teach your child how to multiply, teach them to use their fingers.

  2. I have an 8 YO who is on the autism spectrum – high functioning – who is a pro at fingercounting this way through multiplication facts. At the beginning of the school year, I told his teacher that I didn’t want him stressed out over timed tests and he began working on skip counting. He had teachers who worked on skip counting and he recited it while doing the Infinity Walk at home…imagine my surprise at how proficient he now is!! I am thrilled! And before kids, I taught 3rd grade and skip counting was how I approached teaching multiplication….I think it works for kids of ALL abilities!!!! Thanks for sharing this method!!
