Science Saturday: Lesson 8 (Cardiovascular System)

cardiovascular unit study

Welcome to another wonderful Science Saturday where The Homeschool Scientist and I are working through  Apologia Exploring Creation with Human Anatomy and Physiology.

My children love listening to heartbeats. Lira actually received a stethoscope for her birthday. So, this unit on the cardiovascular system was such a perfect fit for our family.

My fav-o-rite video about the cardiovascular system… I really liked it. This one is so thorough and interactive. But Lira was upset and confused when he kept scribbling through half of the diagrams. (Thank you, Autism.)

So, we turned to a simple video.

The list for resources on the cardiovascular system is extensive. Check this out:

  1. We also like this book called The Circulatory Story: http://www.amazon.com/The-Circulatory-Story-Mary-Corcoran/dp/1580892094/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1359853272&sr=8-1&keywords=The+circulatory+story+Mary+K.+Corcoran
We read part of the book last week while we were talking about blood, and plan to finish the rest of it while we read about the circulatory system! Thanks for the other links, I always forget to look for videos to go along with the lessons :-)
