When Christmas shopping, I often find that I get distracted by the sales and lose track of the meaning behind the season. I keep seeing things that I think our children would love or I get another great idea for a family member, and completely get derailed.
For our family, Christmas is a time to reflect on the birth of our Savior. This year, I feel challenged to think simpler and since we are celebrating the greatest gift ever given, I believe the gifts I give should be meaningful too.
The 50 Word Bible
Legacy Press has a delightful selection of resources available for the Christian family. Parents can browse their selection of activity books, devotionals, and more with the assurance that these products are based on biblical and moral lessons to help grow their children in godly character. (You can read their statement of faith online.)
The 50 Word Bible is an example of the quality books available. With dramatic illustrations but simple phrases, young children can be introduced to the Bible in terms and pictures they understand.
As an excellent gift idea, The 50 Word Bible would be a great way for grandparents to share their faith with their grandchildren or even for neighbors to give with prayers that it might yield an opportunity to share the Gospel.
For our family, the pictures will be an excellent accompaniment as we journey through the Bible together since our family Bible does not have illustrations, and since The 50 Word Bible includes a reference of Scripture passages, we can easily locate the complete account of each story.
Great devotionals for girls and boys
As a former Children’s Minister, I was often asked about devotional books for kids. Parents were searching for excellent options and I never had anything to recommend. How I wish I had known about Legacy Press then.
I had the opportunity to review God and Me for ages 10 to 12. Each devotion begins with a theme and Scripture. Following the passage from the Bible, your tween can read a story that will help apply the story and make it relevant.
Many devotionals stop there, but this series also provides interesting and challenging activities to help the tween evaluate her life and make the necessary changes to exhibit more Christ-like behavior.
To purchase The 50 Word Bible or God and Me/Gotta Have God devotional books, visit Legacy Press online or use their store locator to find a retailer near you. These books are also available at Amazon.com:
