Sometimes, you just want to give cash for Christmas. Maybe the person has everything or perhaps they NEED everything. Or, maybe it is a teen who is just excited to have money to spend. Whatever the reason, you might be looking for a unique way to give cash as a gift and I have one that I used last year to share with you.
Last year, I wanted to be the Aunt of the Year so I gave my niece and nephew two of their most favorite things… cash and candy. However, I didn’t want to 1) mail cash and 2) just send a card. I wanted a more fun way to give cash as a present.
I started with empty (clean) toilet paper rolls, tissue paper, canning jars (with lids), packaging tape, scissors, and cash.
First, slide the money into the toilet paper tube.
Then wrap the tube in tissue paper, cutting it to fit but leaving enough to push extra into the holes on each side. You do not want to leave these open because they will fill up with candy.
Attach packaging tape to one end of the tube and stick it into your canning jar. The tape helps hold the tube in place while you are pouring the candy around the tube.
Finally, fill up the remaining space with candy. Top with the lid and wrap as you wish.
Can you imagine the surprise when that special person thinks all they received was candy but… my, oh my… there is a secret stash of cash inside?!?!
