Newsletter subscribers already know that I have been wasting a tremendous amount of food and money by shopping frivolously and then not preparing food before it spoils. Oh! What a painful admission to make to you guys, my frugal friends!
So, I am launching a 31 day challenge and would like to invite you to join me.
When you add together the value of the food I was trashing to the amount of money I was wasting on frivolous purchases at the grocery store… the potential amount of wasted money leaves me gasping for air.
Did I mention that paying a tuition for private school is expensive? Now is NOT the time for me to be wasting money. Now is the time for me to be saving MORE.
So, I’m handing out punishment, starting with myself. Anyone else need a kick in the pants? Get in line behind me.
From October 1 through October 31, my goal is to waste nothing. Not money. Not food.
Waste Not, Want Not Challenge
Each Monday through Friday, I will be sharing a post to help you stick with the challenge to waste nothing for 31 days. Topics will include:
- Understanding food expiration dates
- Organizing your refrigerator and freezer
- Proper food storage guidelines
- Ideas for using up those bits and pieces of leftovers
- Apps to help you save money and waste less
- Using coupons to save more money
- Shopping strategies to avoid overspending
- Tips for menu planning
- and much more.
But, this challenge requires a response from YOU…
How to participate:
- Become a member of our Facebook group: Save, Serve, Love.
- Clean out your refrigerator, freezer, and cabinets on September 30.
- From October 1 through October 31, refuse to waste any food. Refuse to waste a single dollar.
- Each Friday, upload a picture of what you wasted to our Facebook page or group.
This is going to take a ton of thought and effort for all of us, but my hope is that we will all walk away with some new habits… and more money in our pockets.
