There is one problem with workboxes. You can easily get into a rut with older children, filling their boxes with worksheets and little of anything else. So, even when I put worksheets into Lira’s boxes, I try to put something unique with it.
Math
These charms came from Oriental Trading. While I had bought them for a party, they were never used and make a fun little math manipulative for adding, subtracting, sorting and more.
Buttons are always thrilling for me. I love to look at them and touch them. Crazy. So, I often pull them out for Lira to use with her math. They just make counting more fun.

Spelling
This week, I was pretty certain that Lira knew her spelling words before I even handed her the first worksheet. I tested her and sure enough, she spelled everyone perfectly. I thought about moving on to the next lesson but instead, I decided to just cut the list from the worksheet and mix things up a little.
One day, I gave her our mixed box of letters. Some are letter magnets and some are from a puzzle that lost some of its pieces.
Another day, I gave her some laces and alphabet beads for a very fun and unique way to spell.
