3 Educational Gift Ideas from ThinkFun

Share & Help Me Grow

We own a lot of ThinkFun games, and I always recommend anything they create. ThinkFun seems to completely understand that learning is supposed to be fun. Plus, I know that any time I open up a game by ThinkFun, my children are going to love it.

Their reputation remains golden in our home because as I reviewed these three educational games, our children glowed with pride and determination. You could almost see their brains getting bigger. That is why I am adding these games from ThinkFun to my list of recommended gift ideas.

3 educational gift ideas with a giveaway by @ThinkFun at @MeetPenny

A-Ha! Brainteaser Kit

The first game we opened was the A-Ha! Brainteaser Kit. This immediately drew a crowd ranging in age from 4 years old to… cough… my husband’s age.

You are given an object card to show you the finished project as well as three hints for putting together each puzzle. Even so, I admit that some of these puzzles stumped me. My children seemed to have more flexibility in their brain cells and were able to accomplish all but two without adult assistance.

We spent an entire afternoon working through the puzzles one at a time and then again. The puzzles require a great deal of logic and creativity. You (literally) have to think outside the box.

A-Ha! Brainteaser K by ThinkFunitThe A-Ha! Brainteaser Kit include 8 hands-on puzzles and is appropriate for ages 6 and up.

Teachers could use this in a classroom or co-op setting and it makes an excellent addition to family game nights. Using the A-Ha! Brainteaser Kit would also be a fabulous ice breaker at holiday parties or as a way to get busy children to settle around a table.

You can purchase the A-Ha! Brainteaser Kit from ThinkFun online, at retailers listed on their Store Locator, or at Amazon.com.

Math Dice Powers

We are quickly approaching the lesson on powers and the idea of explaining exponents to my child with Autism… yeah, I’m nervous. However, any time I can put something in her hands to make the lessons more concrete, the more likely I am to see the light Math Dice Powers by ThinkFunbulb go on in her mind.

Math Dice Powers Practice Edition includes five dice and a handy storage bag. The idea is simply to work a powers problem by rolling the red and blue 12-sided dice. The answer is your target.

Then, you roll the three plain dice and try to work an equation in your mind with an answer that gets you close to the target.

OK… so maybe the following video will do a better job explaining Math Dice Powers Practice Edition than I did but I can see how this would be really fun (while challenging) in a classroom or group setting as well as with one person playing alone.

You can purchase Math Dice Powers Practice Edition from ThinkFun online, at retailers listed on their Store Locator, or at Amazon.com.

Laser Maze

Laser Maze Logic GameLaser Maze Logic Game is a fun, thinking game. My four year old blew through the easiest mazes quickly, following the instructions on the cards and arranging the mirrors to direct the laser beam to the final target.

The Laser Maze Logic Game is designed to be a one person game, although we found it to be more fun working on the puzzles together as a group, and is age appropriate for 8 year olds and older. The puzzle range from easy (beginner) to expert.

If you have an older child who likes construction-based toys but has grown out of building blocks, I think the Laser Maze Logic Game would be an excellent gift idea.

Laser Maze Logic Game Directions

You can purchase the Laser Maze Logic Game from ThinkFun online, at retailers listed on their Store Locator, or at Amazon.com.

Disclosure: I was provided with these games by ThinkFun but a favorable review was not required and opinions are 100% my own. For complete details, please read my disclaimer.

About Tabitha

Hi! I'm Tabitha! But, I bet you expected someone named "Penny." Long story made short, Penny is the coupon binder I started in 2010 when we were totally broke... as in BANKRUPT. Now, as a mom of five, I make 6-figures a year working at home and share ways to help you move from penny to profit while you raise a family with sense on cents.
