3 Ways to Feed Hungry Children

Share & Help Me Grow

acorn Walmart.Disclosure
#SHOP2GIVE  #WeSparkChange

When my children say, “Mommy, I’m hungry,” I am quick to provide them with a healthy snack, but it was not long ago that affording groceries was nearly impossible. We needed assistance to make ends meet.

Now that our situation has changed, I am always aware that others are still struggling and strive to find ways to serve my community and feed hungry children. The amazing thing? Most opportunities do not require a lot of effort.

Fight hunger. Spark change. Buy participating products at Walmart and make a difference in the ministry of your local food bank. Feed hungry children. #Shop2Give #WeSparkChange #ad

Right now, feeding hungry families is easier than ever with these three easy steps.

1) Buy specially marked products at Walmart.

When you shop for products from Unilever, General Mills, ConAgra, Campbell’s, Kellogg’s, and Kraft – the items you already use every day – you can spark change because each purchased item equals one meal donated.

My children had a blast picking out the items we would normally purchase (and a few extra treats, just because) with the Fight Hunger, Spark Change logo. It was like a scavenger hunt for them but Walmart made it easy because participating products were on almost every aisle display and end-cap throughout the store.

You can see the complete list of participating products at Walmart.com/FightHunger.

2) Give an additional donation at the register.

When it comes time to check out, keep in mind that the overall goal is to provide 75 million meals* to Feeding America Food Banks nationwide. You can add $1, $2, $5 or another valuable financial contribution to your total at the register as a gift towards the Fight Hunger, Spark Change campaign.

One dollar will not make a huge difference in your grocery budget but can provide 10 meals** to hungry people. TEN people!

So, think about it this way…

  • $1 donated = 10 meals
  • $2 donated = 20 meals
  • $5 donated = 50 meals
  • $10 donated = 100 meals! (That will feed a 4-person family three meals a day for over a week!)

3) Share the #WeSparkChange effort in social media.

Visited @walmart this morning to load up on #WeSparkChange foods. Had the children searching for specially marked packages of their favorite foods. Share a pic of 6 or more people committed to #Shop2Give and Walmart donates $10 to @FeedingAmerica, up to $1.5 million! (Or, just regram our pic! It still counts as another $10!)

About Tabitha

Hi! I'm Tabitha! But, I bet you expected someone named "Penny." Long story made short, Penny is the coupon binder I started in 2010 when we were totally broke... as in BANKRUPT. Now, as a mom of five, I make 6-figures a year working at home and share ways to help you move from penny to profit while you raise a family with sense on cents.
