Socialization is the “S” word when it comes to homeschool, and honestly, I do not understand what the big problem is because there are so many ways to get homeschooled children out and around other people.
Socialization ideas for homeschoolers
- Join a club like 4H, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, or American Heritage Girls.
- Visit a nursing home.
- Go to the grocery store.
- Audition for a play.
- Visit the library weekly.
- Join a community or church sports team.
- Host a party.
- Take a trip out of town.
- Participate in group service projects.
- Volunteer at a community organization.
- Collect canned goods for a food bank.
- Start your own interest club.
- Attend homeschool cooperative (co-op classes).
- Sign your child up for summer camp.
- Go out to eat.
- Be involved in church group activities.
- Take field trips.
- Gather gifts for orphans.
- Host a play date for friends.
- Visit with extended family at a reunion.
- Go to birthday parties.
- Join a science or public speaking club.
- Host a tea party.
