Socialization is the “S” word when it comes to homeschool, and honestly, I do not understand what the big problem is because there are so many ways to get homeschooled children out and around other people.

Socialization ideas for homeschoolers

  1. Join a club like 4H, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, or American Heritage Girls.
  2. Visit a nursing home.
  3. Go to the grocery store.
  4. Audition for a play.
  5. Visit the library weekly.
  6. Join a community or church sports team.
  7. Host a party.
  8. Take a trip out of town.
  9. Participate in group service projects.
  10. Volunteer at a community organization.
  11. Collect canned goods for a food bank.
  12. Start your own interest club.
  13. Attend homeschool cooperative (co-op classes).
  14. Sign your child up for summer camp.
  15. Go out to eat.
  16. Be involved in church group activities.

    Good list of ideas and options for homeschool socialization. I am writing a paper for my PhD class this week about Do Homeschool Children Receive Adequate Socialization. Thanks for the added thoughts.
