5 Senses Christmas Science Project

Share & Help Me Grow

Last year at our Christmas-themed co-op, I wanted to have a Christmas science experiment but struggled to find something that would work for younger elementary without a bunch of mess. So, I decided to make my own science game and the children loved it.

Quick and easy Christmas science project using the 5 senses. Includes a free printable.

For this Christmas science project, you will need:

  • 10 paper lunch bags, numbered
  • 5 Senses Christmas Science printable, below
  • 1 orange
  • 1 gingerbread cookie
  • coffee beans
  • jingle bells
  • cotton balls
  • cinnamon sticks
  • peppermint sticks or candy canes
  • pine needles
  • gift bow
  • ice (in a cup so it doesn’t melt through your bag)

The teacher will take the bag around the room and the children are to use their senses of smell, touch, and hearing to figure out what is in the bag. They cannot look in the bags!

Then, they can match the object to the numbered bag on the printable.

It’s a super easy way to incorporate science into the Christmas holidays without a lot of preparation.

About Tabitha

Hi! I'm Tabitha! But, I bet you expected someone named "Penny." Long story made short, Penny is the coupon binder I started in 2010 when we were totally broke... as in BANKRUPT. Now, as a mom of five, I make 6-figures a year working at home and share ways to help you move from penny to profit while you raise a family with sense on cents.
