You might not consider it frugal but yes, I have started using paper plates. I was challenged by a friend to think it through and found that the difference was not large enough to devalue paper plate usage in our home.
Paper towels, however, are a precious commodity. I tried to give them up, I really did but when I cook bacon, I need some paper toweling to absorb the grease.
The problem with paper towels is that they disappear… FAST! So, one way that I decided to cut back on paper towel use in our home is to stop using them for snack time. Instead, we purchased a hoss-load of coffee filters for just pennies. They work great! The kids love the shape and I love the savings.
Try using the coffee filters for draining the grease from your bacon–works great!
