Ask Penny: Do You Ever Get Tired of Searching for Deals?

Share & Help Me Grow

Hey Penny, I was just wondering if you ever got tired of all the shopping and coupons and stuff.  How do you stay motivated? ~ Anonymous

You probably expect me to say, “No, I love every minute of it!”  And while I do love sharing this information with all of you very much, I do get tired of shopping.  Making my list never bothers me and getting the coupons is not that big of a deal… BUT, getting out of the house and driving to the store… UGH! Some days, I will make up my list and have my coupons ready and decide that it is just not worth it.

Of course, I have a stockpile so there are no urgent needs.  That is very convenient.

But, one thing I do is keep perspective.  Spending ten minutes a day doing my research (by subscribing to the email digest from my favorite blogs), taking 30 minutes a week making my list and gathering the coupons, and visiting only two stores per week help keep my time investment low.  If I save $200 through my efforts (and we save more than that), I have paid myself $16.67 per hour.  No too shabby for an extremely part-time job!

So, chin up!  It is worth it!  And once you have your stockpile, take a week off every once in a while.  It’s okay.

About Tabitha

Hi! I'm Tabitha! But, I bet you expected someone named "Penny." Long story made short, Penny is the coupon binder I started in 2010 when we were totally broke... as in BANKRUPT. Now, as a mom of five, I make 6-figures a year working at home and share ways to help you move from penny to profit while you raise a family with sense on cents.
