Bluapple Review & Giveaway

Share & Help Me Grow

BluApple Saves Money

Over ten years ago, I remember a conversation that I had with a friend. She was telling me about how much produce she and her husband had purchased with the intention of eating healthier and then let it all spoil. Unfortunately, her story is quite similar to a lot of the things I hear.

Produce is an investment and just like any venture, you need to treat it properly so that you can get the maximum return from the money you spent on your purchase. But, what if I told you that there was an inexpensive product available that could make your produce last longer without requiring any effort on your part?

When I first heard about BluApple, I was skeptical but as I read their claims, the information made perfect sense.

The facts about ripe produce

Produce ripens due to ethylene gas, a natural product from within the fruits and vegetables. As a fruit ripens, the ethylene is released and that causes any of the other produce in close proximity to also ripen faster. When produce is enclosed, the ethylene is even more concentrated.

Each BluApple contains a replaceable pad that absorbs ethylene gas for up to three months. So, instead of the ethylene getting thicker and thicker in your produce bins, the BluApple is absorbing the gas and reducing the rapid ripening (and eventual spoilage) of your produce.

Since our family has started the Healthy Family Project, we are purchasing between $30 and $50 worth of produce each week. For the most part, we go through our produce quickly, but there are times when I will spot a forlorn bell pepper that did not make it. So, I was willing to try BluApple and see what kind of difference it made.

What I like about BluApple

I love anything that helps me save money but I love the BluApple even more because you are not spending a ton of money to invest in them. For less than $20, you could purchase the BluApple Starter as well as a 12-month supply of refills, providing you with fresher produce for 15 months.

You can tuck them in your crisper drawers or even in zip-top bags and storage containers. My avocado and zucchini lasted two weeks… before we ate them!

While the perfect spot for BluApple is with produce in a closed space, I also buried one under a mountain of clementines. The oranges did indeed last longer!

Buy It

BluApple can be purchased directly from their website at TheBluApple.com for $9.95 or you can find them at Amazon. Refill packs are also available in 12 month supplies for just $9.95.

Due to the generosity of the people at BluApple, you could win a BluApple Starter Kit just by entering with the Rafflecopter below.

I wouldn’t say there’s one vegetable that I throw away more, but I definitely throw away something every week.

Salad fixings: lettuce, cucumbers, onions. They never seem to last long enough for us to eat them.

I probably throw out lettuce and cucumber the most often. Normally because we have forgotten that we still have them, so it’s produce that has already been cut into.

I’d say lettuce and other leafy greens. They get buried in my produce drawer.

Scared me when I first saw this! A BLUE apple? You’ve got to be joking… but now that I know it’s not one you eat but helps preserve the veggies you love. Awesome! Hehehe… Never heard of these little things until now. We eat tons of fruits and veggies. Every now and again we miss something in the veggie drawer.

I think celery and carrots are tossed here most often. I despise cleaning celery and I’m too cheap to buy the pre-cleaned…so, I waste money throwing it away. *sigh*

I throw away TOO many avocados, cucumbers, mangoes and tomatoes. Funny thing is, they make an awesome salsa if you actually remember to use them.

I think we throw away greens more than anything else. (All types : kale, collards, chard, etc.) Those always seem to go bad faster than I expect.

Lettuce goes bad so fast that I rarely buy it anymore. In fact I have stopped buying lots of veggies because of spoilage. This would be fantastic! mm…..does that mean i have to move my 5 dozen eggs out of the veggie drawers? LOL Learn something new everyday.

I’m not that great about eating fresh produce, so I do end up throwing a lot out. I’ve been trying to buy more for my little girls, but sometimes I forget to give it to them too, until the fruit flies are circling. This would be a big help and money saver! Thanks for the giveaway 🙂
