Blueprints: Organizing Your Homeschool Lesson Plans

Share & Help Me Grow

Once you have your homeschool calendar set up for the year, you are ready to start organizing your lesson plans but first, take some time to pray. I don’t mean a quickie just to get you through it. Make sure that you are focused on what God wants for your child this year and not necessarily any pre-determined agendas you have in mind.

Now, let’s get started…

Tips for making homeschool lesson plans and a free printable planner

For the most part, the homeschool curriculum we use gives me a very clear-cut plan that I can apply to my lesson plans. All I have to do is fill in the form so that I have it ready if I have to provide it to my homeschool covering when I turn in grades at the end of the quarter. However, not all curriculum gives such a decisive pattern to follow. For instance, our science curriculum (Apologia’s Exploring Creation With Botany) needs some division because the chapters are long. For curriculum like that, I look for activities or review questions which would mark a good stopping place.

Speaking of science, there are some subjects we do not cover on a daily basis. For our family, we like to study Social Studies (or History/Geography) on Monday and Tuesday. We study science on Wednesday and Thursday. Since my children are still young, I can do this and still cover everything they need to learn within the year. As they grow, I will have to expand the amount of time we spend on those subjects.

One thing to remember: Lesson plans are not written in stone. I actually will keep my plans on the computer until after the week has passed. Then, I will print them and add the pages to my records folder. The fabulous thing about homeschooling your child is that you can personalize the lessons each day to fit his individual needs. If you need to move faster or slower in a particular area, you can tweak your lesson plans accordingly.

About Tabitha

Hi! I'm Tabitha! But, I bet you expected someone named "Penny." Long story made short, Penny is the coupon binder I started in 2010 when we were totally broke... as in BANKRUPT. Now, as a mom of five, I make 6-figures a year working at home and share ways to help you move from penny to profit while you raise a family with sense on cents.

I have searched all over the web for the calender I had envisioned… alas! My search is over. Thank you so much. This is my first year of homeschooling, my boys are 10 and 11. And yes, they know when I don’t have it together. This calender is going to do wonders for my lacking organizational skills.

In fact, this is a very important component, because you cannot relate to the educational process without proper preparation and understanding of all the necessary aspects. Only with a responsible approach to business you can count on some kind of success and achievement. I also recommend you a useful educational source https://ghostwritingcorp.com/examples/plato/ where you can always study an interesting selection of materials that have been prepared by experts, for example, materials about Plato, who is a famous person about which is always interesting to read.
