I have known way too many people suffering with cancer and one thing is certain, when someone you love is diagnosed, it hurts… in more ways than one.
The following is a picture of my cousin. When she started going to the tanning bed, she went for just ten minutes at a time. She is a beautiful lady with or without a tan but she liked the tan better.
Now, she has a very aggressive form of skin cancer.
Ask her if it is worth the tan.
You never think this will happen to you. Never. We somehow think that we are invincible. Unstoppable. Untouchable. Until cancer comes home.
Then… it’s personal.
I appreciate your prayers for my sweet cousin.
Sorry to hear, cancer is the worst…it has claimed so many of my family.
May god bless your cousin and help her thru her pain.
Thank you so much for your kindness. Cancer is a beast and I am afraid that it will continue to grow in our communities as long as the toxins remain in our food and environment. 🙁
Oh my goodness Penny! I’m so sorry that your cousin is going through this. Thank goodness she has a loving cousin and friend like you. She will definitely be in my thoughts!
I am not a great cousin. I found out about this through Facebook. Isn’t that terrible? 🙁
But, I do love her dearly and appreciate your prayers.
Penny, We will be praying hard! We just went through melanoma with my husband last year. He had a eraser sized mole on his neck that came back melanoma and because of the depth he had his lymph nodes removed and we are left with a huge scar, and monthly visits to his Dr. but God is good. We took the whole family in to be looked over and two of our five kids had pre cancerous moles for melanoma removed, ages 2 and 5 years old. Skin cancer knows no age, no race, no gender. It’s a silent killer if not caught in time. Thank you for sharing this picture.
Thank you, Tiffany. I know that it is not a pretty picture but it is necessary to know the dangers. So many people feel like it will never happen to them. I pray for continued health in your family!
Oh how tragic and sad. I’ve used tanning beds before myself. We certainly need to take every precaution. Bless your heart for sharing…and your dear cousins too.
I am just praying for her healing. She has beautiful girls who need her.
I’m so sorry to hear this and I’ll keep her in my thoughts and prayers! My boss (who was like family to me and everyone he knew!!) passed away from pancreatic cancer in October.
Cancer is a terrible thing. I had a friend who just passed this weekend. She was only diagnosed 13 days ago. 🙁
I am so sorry for your loss.
I will be praying. This is definitely a wake up call. I worship the sun.
Be careful, Carol. Beautiful beaches are just miles from my home but I am scared to death about the potential damage I could do to my children.
Wow! I will pray for her! You just don’t think about it until you see something like this.
It is easy to ignore. That is why I wanted to bring attention to it on the blog. If we can just educate one person…
I just read an article the other day that said using a tanning bed ups your chances of skin cancer by 75%, but the salons don’t want you to know that, so they hide the truth. I wish I could remember where I read it so I could link it up. It was a good one!
Prayers for your cousin! Hugs, T
Thank you, Tonya. Yeah… I am finding out that there is a lot the tanning bed places will not tell you. 🙁
