Clean Eating: Safe Produce

Share & Help Me Grow

how to freeze fruits and vegetables

We have talked about the nasty stuff but which types of produce are safe to eat?

Onions ~ Because of their smell and skin, they are resistant to most insects and do not need as much pesticide.

Avocados ~ Thank God for those thick skins!

Corn ~ Yummy!

Pineapple ~ Rinse well before cutting to avoid contaminating the inner fruit with the outer funk.

Mango ~ Another thick-skinned wonder but still rinse well before cutting.

Asparagus ~ I love them roasted!

Sweet Peas ~ Can you believe that these little veggies are the least likely to have pesticide residue than any other vegetable?

Kiwi ~ That wonderful, rough skin protects the fruit. Again, wash before cutting.

Cabbage ~ A superfood in more ways than one!

Eggplant ~ Yep. you guessed it.  That thick skin keeps it safe.

Papaya ~ Pesticides cling to the skin but remain there, leaving the fruit pesticide-free.

Watermelon ~ A southern girl’s dream.

Broccoli ~ It’s not just kids that avoid this dish. Pests do too so it requires less spraying. (Of course, my kids LOVE it raw!)

Tomatoes ~ Once in the dirty dozen, they have a cleaner bill of health now.

About Tabitha

Hi! I'm Tabitha! But, I bet you expected someone named "Penny." Long story made short, Penny is the coupon binder I started in 2010 when we were totally broke... as in BANKRUPT. Now, as a mom of five, I make 6-figures a year working at home and share ways to help you move from penny to profit while you raise a family with sense on cents.
