On December 1st, our family will start the annual countdown to Christmas and this year I have created free printable cards with the cute clip art from Picmonkey.
How to use the Countdown to Christmas
I know… some people think we do this part backwards but we set up our countdown like a calendar. On each day, we have a special activity. (Need advent activity ideas?)
I will be using sparkly clothespins to attach each card to a ribbon, creating a cute banner in our living room. Each day, one of the children will remove the card and we will have that designated activity to enjoy.
Another way to display the cards would be to punch a hole and loop a ribbon through, hanging each one on your tree. Or, place the cards in a pocket chart.
You can write the activities directly on the back of the cards, or print the activities on labels and stick those to the card. If you want, you can laminate these cards and then use a dry erase marker to place your special activities on the back, making the countdown reusable for years to come.
Whichever way you choose to display the Countdown to Christmas, your children will be entertained daily with a festive activity while the anticipation steadily builds.
