With three out of our four children, I was VERY pregnant on Halloween. Since our church always hosted a community Fall Festival, I struggled to find costumes for pregnant women but HAD to dress up because I was on the church staff, and come on! It’s fun!

So, over the years, I collected several pregnant women costume ideas.
Bumble Bee
This costume will put your preggo belly to great use!

Get a yellow craft t-shirt and some black fabric dye. Wrap rubber bands around the t-shirt and squirt away, following the directions on the dye.
Using yellow foam board, cut out two wings and “sew” the wings together loosely with yarn. Bring two loops of yarn around to hang on your shoulders like a backpack.
Wear black pants and attach black pom-poms to a couple of pony tail holders with hot glue.
Buzz~Buzz~Buzzzzzzzz!
You could do something similar with a lady bug or beetle.
The Big Apple (or Tomato)
I thought this one was obvious until someone asked me if I was Bob the Tomato. So, if in doubt, sing “New York, New York” as people walk by.

This pregnant woman costume requires less prep than any other idea.
Just wear a red t-shirt and put your hair in a ponytail. Decorate the ponytail with leaves or buy a leaf wristband and use it over your ponytail holder. I used green craft foam to shape leaves and attached them with bobby pins.
Any round fruit or vegetable could be easily adjusted from this idea.
Mrs. Pregnant America
OK… this one was a bad call for wearing to church.
I had a bridesmaid dress with an empire-waist. It flowed beautifully across my girth. I fixed my hair in long curls and wore a tiara. I attached a sash with Mrs. Pregnant America across it.
I thought my costume was quite clear. However, a few of the members mentioned in jest that I looked like a pregnant Prom Queen. A~hem!
Baseball Babe
My husband is a Red Sox fan and when I discovered his baseball cap in the closet, I snatched it.

Again, with the t-shirts… can you tell that I love them?
Get a white t-shirt and a red permanent marker. I used a large coffee can to make large circles around the sides of the shirt and then drew the little cross markers to resemble the stitching on a baseball.
Over the t-shirt, I put on a denim shirt, buttoned so that only my belly was showing, and wore blue jeans. Take me out to the ballgame!
Bun in the Oven
This is one I always wanted to do but I figured it would be too difficult to chase children all over the festival or around the church with a cardboard box around my waist.

Decorate a box to look like an oven using a black permanent marker or spray paint. Attach foil circles as stove top burners and cut out an oven door. You could even attach a curtain rod and hang a dish towel. Wear your oven with suspenders.
If you are looking for some humor, ask your husband to wear an apron and chef’s hat. He could carry a rolling pin and smudges of flour on his face. Someone has been busy putting a bun in the oven. {wink, wink}
Shooting Hoops
More of a basketball fan? No problem.

Purchase a plain white t-shirt and orange and black fabric paint. Paint a large orange circle on the stomach area of the shirt and then add basketball features with the black paint.
Attach a white decorative net to a hula hoop. You can either hold the hula hoop or use suspenders to keep the “basketball net” in place.
