Whether your family participates in Halloween trick or treating or visits your community fall festival, Disney Junior celebrates with you, and gives a great opportunity to nurture your child’s creativity and imagination with fun costumes and party supplies.
I love watching my three year old, Ariary, play. Her imagination is growing and I can see her wheels turning as she watches her favorite Disney Junior programs. Sometimes, I can catch her singing about “Minnie’s Bowtique” while she dances in a tutu with the homemade mouse ears I created several months ago.
Hmmm… I thought to myself about her dress up chest and realized how badly it needed an upgrade.
Halloween is actually an awesome time to purchase dress up clothing to use all year long and my local Walmart had a variety of Disney Junior outfits including Doc McStuffins, Sofia the First, and Minnie Mouse.
As I placed a Minnie Mouse costume in my cart, I decided to take a quick trip back about three aisles to the party section to browse additional supplies for the surprise I had brewing in my brain.
I wanted to recreate Minnie’s Bowtique in our dining area and was able to find a package of decorations to hang and place on the walls that was perfect! (It was inexpensive too! A great investment when stretching a party budget but cute enough to decorate a bedroom.) Because the cups, napkins, and plates were so adorable, I tossed those in the buggy too and decided that Minnie’s Bowtique would host an impromptu tea party.
After adding some nail polish (non-toxic AND Minnie Mouse themed), bows, and jewelry to my buggy, I headed for the checkout. This was going to be an amazing afternoon of imaginative play!
Minnie Mouse Costume
Upon arriving home, I barely put the bags down then Ariary spotted the Minnie Mouse costume. Within minutes, she was dressed up and looking adorable.
Honestly, I am stunned by the details in this costume for the price I paid.
I can sew but would have never been able to purchase the material and accessories for the scant cost, and I just don’t think she would have looked as sweet.
For me, it was quite magical as I saw her face alight with excitement as if her dreams had come true.

Once Ariary was transformed into Minnie Mouse, it was time to open the shop for business.
Ariary loved playing at Minnie’s Bowtique, and despite being ten years old, Lira played among the pink and purple party accessories and enjoyed every minute of being with her sister.
They “shopped” for bows and accessories, painted fingernails, decorated hair, and giggled. A lot.
After the shopping excursion and makeovers were completed, the girls settled for a snack. As my boys (dressed in ninja costumes) joined the girls at the table, even they were drawn into this world of imagination. I heard them talking about rings and necklaces and a treasure chest. (I think a little touch of Jake and the Neverland Pirates snuck into the conversation.)
