Detective Pikachu

When Detective Pikachu comes to theaters, I will be there with my kiddos.

Simple Pikachu Peeps are a great snack idea for a Pokemon or Detective Pikachu party.

Now, I am not a huge fan of Ryan Reynolds and think twice before I see any movie in which he acts (can’t even remember the last one I saw). His movies tends to be edgy with adult humor. Not exactly the kind of entertainment I want for my children.

However, we enjoy playing Pokemon Go as a family and are excited about seeing the adorable Pikachu transformed into the live action Detective Pikachu.

But, since this is the first Pokemon movie to receive a PG rating, I am preparing the kiddos for rude behavior, mild violence, and maybe a sprinkling of what we consider to be bad language.

How to Make Pikachu Peeps

As preparation for the Detective Pikachu movie, we made Pikachu Peeps… an easy Pokemon party food and simple Pikachu snack idea.

To make Pikachu Peeps, you will need:

  • Yellow Peeps Marshmallow Bunnies
  • Milk chocolate morsels
  • Red M&M Minis

Instructions:

Melt chocolate in a microwave safe bowl in the microwave on high, stirring every 15 to 20 seconds until melted. Do not overheat as the chocolate will seize. If the chocolate becomes tough, you can add 1 teaspoon of coconut oil or vegetable shortening. Do not add water.

Dip each ear of the Peeps bunny, gently pushing or pulling through the chocolate to make a clean diagonal line. Place on wax paper until set.

Using a toothpick, apply a drop of melted chocolate to the printed side of a red M&M mini and immediately press against the Peeps Marshmallow as Pikachu’s cheek. Repeat with the other cheek.

Since the eyes and nose are already stamped on the marshmallow Peep, your Pikachu Peep is ready!

Just allow chocolate to set completely prior to packaging or serving.

You can also spear the Pikachu Peeps with a small popsicle stick or bamboo skewers to make a Pikachu Marshmallow Pop.
