With parties and plays, this Christmas tree braid is the perfect hairstyle for girls. Besides, every little girl wants to look like a princess, even if she normally wears jeans under her tutu with her dirty sneakers.
In the whirlwind of holiday preparations, finding the perfect hairstyle for your little princess can be a challenge, especially for those of us who aren’t adept at crafting intricate hairdos. The Christmas Tree Braid offers a delightful solution, merging elegance and simplicity in a festive look that any girl would adore.
Though the original Christmas Tree Braid Kit might not be available anymore, fear not! Similar accessories can be easily found to recreate this enchanting style. From the golden star to the silver and pearl ornaments, along with the green ribbon, you can piece together the elements needed for this beautiful hairstyle.
Christmas Tree Braid
I am not a crafty mom and a “fancy” hairstyle on my girls is a low ponytail that may or may not last the entire school day. Besides, my girls barely let me touch their hair to even brush it. But every once in a while, I want to do something festive.
What comes in the Christmas Tree Braid Kit?
(Please note the Christmas Tree Braid Kit is no longer available but I will link to similar items so you can achieve the same look.)
Inside the Christmas Tree Braid Kit (no longer available), you will receive:
- 1 – gold star hair ornament (These hair ornaments are a great option. This barrette would work too.)
- 9 – silver and pearl hair ornaments (These absolutely gorgeous hair ornaments would be perfect.)
- Green ribbon (This ribbon is almost identical to the ribbon that was in the kit.)
- Several plastic hair bands (This kit has different sizes and they are clear so they won’t distract from the braid.)
- Step-by-step photo tutorial
The elegant detail of the ornament designs is not clearly represented by the Amazon store page. I thought they were rosettes or pom poms when I glanced at the picture. I was very wrong!
These pieces are gorgeous. I am planning to put them in my hair as soon as I have an event where I will not look overdressed.
Plus, you could easily use the ornament pieces for other hairstyles.
Can a lazy mom make this look decent?
I spent a little time checking all of the tutorial videos at Hair By Lori but knew that two french braids would be a disaster for me. Ariary’s hair is super silky and thin but she has a lot of it. Braids tend to slip out of her hair easily.
I decided to pull the front of her hair back into a ponytail and then divide it into two braids. As I started weaving the ribbon through the braids, it was difficult to keep the distance from being pulled tight.
So, I divided the bottom of her hair into two equal parts and attached the braids making two ponytails. The braids resembled an upside-down V.
When I started weaving the ribbon through the braids again, the distance held much better and the Christmas tree design could be seen.
At the top of the point, I gently twisted the star ornament into place. It went in so easily that I thought for certain it would be a tangled mess then I took them out later, but I twisted the rest of the ornaments into place.
The finished result was stunning. I couldn’t believe how beautiful it was… and that I had done it myself!
And, to my surprise, the ribbon and all of the ornaments were simple (and painless) to remove.
A Magical Christmas Tree Braid
As a self-professed ‘non-crafty’ mom, I took on the challenge of creating this look for my daughter. Admittedly, my initial attempt was a bit of trial and error, adapting the technique to suit her unique hair type. However, with a few adjustments, like using different hair bands to accommodate her silky locks, the final result was beyond my expectations. The Christmas Tree Braid not only adorned her hair but also left me pleasantly surprised at my own capabilities.
The elegance of the ornaments surpassed my initial impressions and can easily be repurposed for other hairstyles or even worn individually. While my journey involved a bit of improvisation and learning along the way, the simplicity of removing the ribbon and ornaments without any fuss was a relief.
So, to all the ‘lazy’ moms out there, fear not. With a bit of patience and adaptation, creating this festive hairstyle is indeed possible. Embrace the spirit of the season and give your little one the gift of feeling like a princess with the magical Christmas Tree Braid.
