We are very blessed to have an art museum with a fantastic, hands-on children’s area. Not only that, but when the Farmer’s Market is set up on Thursday afternoons, admission is free! So, we just had to go!
Franc wanted to impress the museum curator with his knowledge of line and shape.
Lira took her painting very seriously. When the attendant offered her a white crayon, Lira was aghast until we explained that you could see the white crayon after you used watercolor on top of it.
Then, there was Ruble who acted as though he were waiting for this moment his entire life.
The museum had a ton of other hands-on activities too.
Larger than life paintings
Dress Up Clothes (The shoes KILL me!)
Educational computer games
Sculpture making
and SO MUCH MORE!
Unfortunately, Ariary was not impressed.

Oh my goodness this looks like so much fun! I love your youngest child’s name. How did you come up with it?
Penny says
Thank you. Ariary is actually a psuedo-name. We all have fake names to protect the children from strangers calling them by their real names since “Lira”, our child with Autism, has no sense of danger. I wanted to stop referring to them by their ages so about a year ago, I asked the readers of one of my other blogs for name ideas. One suggested naming them after foreign currency since my husband goes by “Bill” and I am known as “Penny.” Great idea! So, “Ariary” is the currency for Madagascar. 😉
Thanks for asking.
