Heart Pocket Valentine’s Day Craft for Kids

Share & Help Me Grow

At our homeschool co-op meeting closest to Valentine’s Day, the children swap Valentine’s Day cards. To have somewhere to collect their cards and goodies, my children made this simple paper plate Valentine’s Day craft.

Super simple Valentine's Day craft for kids. Just need two cheap-o paper plates and ribbon. Kids could use them to collect their cards in class.

As each of the children decorated two of the cheap-o paper plates, I compared their artwork to different famous artists.

  • Lira chose flowers like Georgia O’Keefe. Big and bright.
  • Franc mimicked Norman Rockwell with a depiction of real life.
  • Ruble was more impressionistic, a bit like Van Gogh.
  • Ariary favored cut-outs and stickers like the later works of Monet.
  • I decided to go for a more abstract look to resemble Picasso.

Once the paper plates are decorated, this Valentine’s Day craft comes together quickly.

Simply fold each plate in half, crimping each end. Place one plate inside the other and staple at the bottom and once on each side. Then, punch holes in the opposite sides and attach a decorative ribbon.

This children love this each paper plate craft and have the perfect place to gather cards on Valentine’s Day.

About Tabitha

Hi! I'm Tabitha! But, I bet you expected someone named "Penny." Long story made short, Penny is the coupon binder I started in 2010 when we were totally broke... as in BANKRUPT. Now, as a mom of five, I make 6-figures a year working at home and share ways to help you move from penny to profit while you raise a family with sense on cents.
