I often have people ask how I come up with the content for my blog. For me, thinking up topics is not hard because I am passionate about the topics you find on my page.
I think that is one thing that proves I am supposed to be doing this. I never run out of ideas.
Where to get your ideas
Find your passion
What do you love? What do you dream about? About what topics do you have a certain level of expertise? What would you like to learn more about? What could you talk about day after day and never grow tired?
Keep a notebook handy
I think up topics for posts all the time. Driving. In the shower. Washing dishes. Having a notebook handy really helps me retain those ideas for later.
Flip through magazines
This is not an encouragement to plagiarize. No way. But, flipping through a magazine can help spark an idea.
Brainstorm
Find a spot to be by yourself, even if it is in the bathroom with the door bolted closed, and just write down every idea that pops in your head. No editing. Just write.
Press This plug-in
As I am surfing around the blogosphere and I see something that I want to mention on my blog, I can use the Press This plug-in to draft it into a post.
One more tip…
When you have an idea, put it into a draft. Immediately. Then, you can use Editorial Calendar plug-in to drag and drop the drafts to the day you want them to publish. This one step alone saves me a tremendous amount of time and creative energy.
Carol Lovett says
I keep a little notebook around me at all times. I go through my ideas when I need inspiration.

Very wise. As forgetful as I am, before I started keeping notes, I could never remember the “great idea I had.” LOL
