Make Your Own Find-It Bag for a Road Trip

Share & Help Me Grow

When I went to visit my brother and his family in Greenville, South Carolina… nine hours away… I knew that needed to come up with some ideas to keep the children occupied. One of those activities was a Find It Bag.

We have a Find-It Game and the children love it, but I was honestly afraid that if I brought it, a riot would break out because everyone would want it at the same time. So, in order to keep peace, I decided to make three bags so the children could play all at the same time and then switch bags to keep the good times rolling.

What you need  to make a DIY Find-It Game ~

  • Clear, plastic freezer bags (storage bags are too thin)
  • Clear packaging tape
  • Rice
  • An assortment of odds & ends from around the house
  • A digital camera & printer
  • Dry erase markers and soft washcloth or eraser

Step by Step instructions ~

Locate the items to put in your seek-and-find games. Photograph them and print the picture. I printed mine on cardstock and then placed it in a freezer bag to make it work like a dry erase board.

Place the items into a different freezer bag.

Add about 2 cups of rice. Remove the air from the bag and zip.

Add packaging tape across the seal to avoid a rice-y mess in the car.

Give each child a bag with the corresponding picture. Have them circle the items they find.

About Tabitha

Hi! I'm Tabitha! But, I bet you expected someone named "Penny." Long story made short, Penny is the coupon binder I started in 2010 when we were totally broke... as in BANKRUPT. Now, as a mom of five, I make 6-figures a year working at home and share ways to help you move from penny to profit while you raise a family with sense on cents.
