Walgreens
Coupon Policy: 1 manufacturer’s (MQ) per item AND 1 Walgreens Q (WAG) per item
* The total number of manufacturer’s coupons may not exceed the number of items per purchase
* Value of the coupons may not exceed the value of the transaction before tax
*Will allow multiple transactions
* Allows two manufacturer’s coupons to be used on a BOGO sale
* Must purchase TWO items to receive a BOGO discount
Please note: If you are using coupons or multiple transactions, check out at the cosmetics counter out of courtesy to the cashiers and other customers. If a cashier is not present, request one and tell them you will have multiple transactions and coupons.

Special Savings Situations
Register Rewards
Register Rewards (RR) are a purchase incentive paid out when you buy a specific item or set of items that pays out when the transaction is complete. The RR will print as a “catalina” from a coupon machine next to the register.
All RRs are manufacturer’s coupons (MQ) and using them may require you to use filler items in order to balance your items count with your manufacturer’s coupon count. Great filler items include eggs or milk (when on sale), individual pencils, $0.49 greetings cards, sales items under $0.50. DO NOT grab items from around the cash register! These items can be marked up as much as 400%! This fact is true at all stores.
RRs can be used towards your next transaction. Some Walgreens may require that you leave the store before using the RRs while others will allow you to use them on your very next transaction.
Some Walgreens will limit that you to only one RR per purchase while others will allow you to use multiple RRs as long as you maintain the balance between the number of items you purchase and the number of manufacturer’s coupons you use in a transaction.
At this time, there is not a limit on the number of RRs you can receive from a particular deal but you must run them as separate transactions. Be aware that you should not use the RRs from a deal to purchase the deal a second time. The computer will block a new RR from printing. For instance, if the store offers a $4 RR for the purchase of Dove Shampoo and you want to purchase TWO bottles, you would need to run two separate transactions. After the first transaction, a $4 RR will print. When you work the second transaction, if you use the $4 RR from the first Dove purchase, a new RR will not print.
Consider this example of a transaction I actually worked:
Using the advertisement above, I bought eight bags of Stacy’s Pita Chips at $2.50 each. I used seven $1/1 Stacy’s MQs and one MQ for FREE bag. The cost out of my pocket was $10.50 plus tax but I received $10 in Register Rewards back. That is the equivalent of $0.06/bag!
Buy One, Get One Free (BOGO)
You can use 2 MQs and 2 WAGs (if available) for each pair of BOGOs!
If you were purchasing the Scotch Tape BOGO and these were your only items, you would need two filler items to use four coupons.
Walgreens Coupons (WAG)
Each WAG has a limit on the number you can purchase. However, if you use a WAG, it will apply to all items in your transaction without requiring one WAG per item.
In this example, you can purchase up to 3 of this item. You would not need three coupons to get the price on all three boxes. The computer would automatically adjust the price on three boxes to reflect the coupon when it is scanned.
WAGS can be found in monthly coupon books, special magazines and other occasional promotions.
Working Multiple Transactions
On most trips to Walgreens, I group my shopping into multiple transactions, rolling the RRs from one transaction to the next.
Here is an example using what I did during a trip to Walgreens:
Transaction #1
2 Wet Ones (on sale for 2/$4) = $4
– Use two Wet Ones MQs for $1.50/1
Total Out of Pocket (OOP) = $1.00
$1 RR prints
Transaction #2
8 Stacy’s Pita Chips (on sale for 2/$5) = $20
2 Kraft Macaroni & Cheese = $2.38
– Use seven Stacy’s Pita Chips MQs for $1/1
– Use one Stacy’s Pita Chips MQ for a free bag
– Use a WAG for $0.59/Mac & Cheese
– $1 RR
Total Out of Pocket (OOP) = $10.68
$10 RR prints
Total OOP for Trip = $11.68
– $10 RR for next trip = $1.68
– 94% SAVINGS!!
