Peanuts Characters Costumes for the Family

Share & Help Me Grow

Several years ago, we attended the church Fall Festival as The Peanuts Gang. For just $13, I was able to make costumes to resemble the Peanuts characters and everyone was cute as can be!

My family was so cute as Peanuts characters. And turning our family of five into the Peanut Gang only cost $13! Super frugal family costume idea.

The children were Sally, Linus and, of course, Charlie Brown.

DIY Peanuts Gang Costumes

A Charlie Brown costume is the easiest. Just use black duct tape on a yellow t-shirt that I purchased for $2.50 from Michaels. We put him in black pants that we already owned and the costume was complete.

Ruble, being Linus, was the exception to my crafty costumes since we already had a red with black stripe shirt for him to wear. The blanket… well, that is just a permanent fixture even to this day.

“Sally” wore a light blue t-shirt ($2.50 at Michaels), belted at the waist to look more like a dress. I covered the “dress” with black duct tape dots to make it polka-dotted. I attached yellow curly ribbon to a headband to make that poof at the top of Sally’ head. Lira wore white tights and black dress shoes.

DIY Snoopy Costume

Bill was Snoopy. Making a DIY Snoopy costume was simple.

I purchased a plain white baseball cap from Michaels using one of those fabulous 40% off coupons. Then, I shaped black felt to look like Snoopy’s ears and attached them to the sides of the hat with duct tape. (I wanted to be able to save the hat for future use.) Again with the black duct tape, I shaped two comma-like eyes and attached a black pom-pom nose to the tip of the hat’s bill.

My darling hubby was able to wear a white polo shirt and blue jeans. I wanted him to wear a red collar but that was pushing it a little too far. (His words.) But, everyone got the point and he kept some of his dignity.

Woodstock on the other hand… Well, I was asked more than once if I was supposed to be Big Bird. Keep in mind that I was like six or seven months pregnant with Ariary. I truly hate that I do not have pictures of that!

I attached yellow feathers to a yellow headband and used a little facepaint to make some long eyelash strokes. I wore a plain, yellow t-shirt from Michaels and (cough) denim maternity pants.

The whole family cost me under $13 and I still have the t-shirts, hat and some duct tape to use again some day.
