Last week was crazy! Appointments, a birthday, sick children… needless to say, we did not get as much school accomplished as I had hoped but I am learning to be more flexible and to keep school fun.
For Ruble, the week was all about the letter C.
C is for Caterpillar
We read The Very Hungry Caterpillarand then did a little reading comprehension using these cute story sequencing cards from DLTK.
Then, he made his own very hungry caterpillar and the thing kept growing and growing and growing. (Yes, his shirt is on backwards. He likes to wear his underware backwards too. I figure it is just a stage.)
C is for Cat
Inspired by a post from Making Learning Fun, I cut two paper plates into shapes that would allow Ruble to make a cat. I had hoped he would color it but he liked it white.
The only problem with using paper plates is that the tail would not stick. So, I dug out some brads that PennyMom had given us and attached the tail, giving it the bonus of wagging!
The wagging tail must have made Ruble’s paper plate cat look too realistic because our cat, Lucy, wanted some love.
So, Ruble gave her a little a-fur-mation.
Other things we did this week:
- Had a cupcake party for PennyMom’s birthday.
- Worked on identifying the different types of fruit using a printable from 1+1+1=1 (look under Letter A).
- Reviewed our verse for the week and song from Raising Rock Stars from 1+1+1=1.

Hello 🙂 I found you thru facebook and I am so glad I did! My son is only 2 1/2, but I am seriously thinking of homeschooling him. I would like to know how I can obtain a plan to start now with age appropriate activities. I think if I start now then I will find out if I am capable of doing long term. Thanks for any advice you have for me!

ps: I would love an invite to pinterest

Hi Glo! There are an abundance of great resources all over the internet to help you preschool your son. My favorite pages are all represented on my Pinterest boards (to which I sent you an invite) but I would recommend you take a look at http://1plus1plus1equals1.blogspot.com/ first.
Another excellent resource is Home Learning Year by Year: How to Design a Homeschool Curriculum from Preschool Through High School. I personally use this book to help me map out what my children need to know.
Blessings on your homeschool journey! Let me know if I can help in any way.

That’s a cute cat…real one and plate cat! LOL!
You had left a comment about MUS on my blog and I wanted to tell you that not all worksheets are like that one. We are on lesson 10 and we’ve had 2 like that. I just thought I’d let you know!
