Welcome to a D-lightful review of our preschool workboxes for the week. Ruble was sick this week and we had a field trip so our week was packed, but he is really getting the hang of this school stuff. I am so grateful that he likes school time.
First off, if you are going to study the letter D, you have to pull out the Do-A-Dot Markers. I love the Do-A-Dot printables from Confessions of a Homeschooler.
D is for Duck
Ruble had lots of fun with the D is for Duck printables from 1+1+1=1, but the real hit was the Lucky Ducks game. If you have not seen this game, it is a MUST for preschoolers. I love that it teaches him to take turns and color/shape recognition. The only bad thing is… I can’t seem to get that quacking sounds out of my head.
The play dough was another favorite of the week. I wanted him to use the little ducky mold but he preferred the bear. Oh well… at least I got to hear him count. He counted the bears correctly all the way to ELEVEN. No kidding. So proud of my little man.
D is for Dinosaur
The majority of our week was spent on dinosaurs. Who could blame us? The printables at Confessions of a Homeschooler are too cute and come on… he is a BOY! So, he did some writing and counting and sizing.
On one day, I pulled all the dinosaurs out of his room (no small feat to find them in that mess) and made a bucket of dinosaurs. He lined them up by size… and then pretended that they ate one another.
My favorite part of the week was reading When Dinosaurs Came with Everything, a silly tale about a day when instead of the normal treats, the special of the day was dinosaurs. Get a haircut… get a dinosaur. Buy doughnuts… get a dinosaur. So cute.

How do you teach the letter D?
Great ideas! Thank you so much for including the links where I can print the pages. We are just starting our alphabet weeks and this will also be our first year using workboxes, so I really appreciate the ideas.
My pleasure! I am working on getting the lesson plans converted to a PDF file so you can have everything we did day by day with links to the ideas/printables. 🙂
We are beyond this stage, but dinosaurs are the epitome of “D”!
Absolutely. Leaving them out would be… “D”umb. LOL
Lucky Ducks! My son LOVED that game when he was little. Love your workboxes. It makes me wish my guys were that little again. 🙂
I love the game… not the noise. Sometimes, I can hear the quacking even after the game is turned off. 😉
