Preschool Workboxes ~ Letter M (Monkeys & Monsters)

Share & Help Me Grow

We studied the letter M before the holidays and I have been sitting on this post but I just can’t wait any longer. The letter M was so much fun!

M is for Monsters

Life before our Make – Your – Own Monster Puppet by Melissa & Doug was just boring. The children often ask to play with it and for the letter M, the puppet was perfect!

After reading I See a Monster, Ruble enjoyed decorating his own monsters on a printable from Twisty Noodle.

And, no study of monsters would be complete without a monster-building workshop followed by a monster parade!

M is for Monkeys

I really love monkeys. I guess that comes in handy when boys act like them so often, but this activity was adorable!

With my thanks to Pinterest, I was able to find these cute monkeys. After stringing some yarn between two chairs (slightly above Ruble’s head so he would not hang himself), I pulled out my uppercase set of clothespins. Since Ruble doesn’t know the letters in order yet, I placed the pins on the line and then asked him to match the letter on the monkeys to the letter on the pin.

He loved it! (So much that you will probably see this activity repeated again later with different animals.)

When he would struggle to find a letter, we would sing the ABC Song together as I pointed to each monkey or clothespin.

Markers are a new favorite for Ruble and Do A Dots are always a hit. So, I was sure to pull out the dot printable from Confessions of a Homeschooler.

Really, the letter M gave us a MAGNIFICIENT week.

About Tabitha

Hi! I'm Tabitha! But, I bet you expected someone named "Penny." Long story made short, Penny is the coupon binder I started in 2010 when we were totally broke... as in BANKRUPT. Now, as a mom of five, I make 6-figures a year working at home and share ways to help you move from penny to profit while you raise a family with sense on cents.

I love monkeys. I’ve been collecting all sorts of things to make monsters (and tons of pins on pinterest for monsters) I can’t wait to do letter M. Your little guy is absolutely adorable! Thanks for sharing. I found you over at Preschool Corner.

Awww… Thanks so much Amylynn. I think he is pretty cute too.

The letter M is definitely fun. Can’t wait to do it again (although slightly different) next year.
