Last year, we began giving each year a theme based on what we intend to accomplish. Why? Because 2011 was “The Year of Struggle” and I did not want our problems to be our focus. Bill and I determined that 2012 would be “The Year of Productivity.” While the year was just as difficult as “The Year of Struggle” – perhaps even more so – we were able to accomplish a tremendous amount because we were focused on doing everything well, for the glory of God.
As we diligently worked, I was able to accomplish all of my professional goals:
- Create and maintain an editorial calendar.
- Publish an ebook.
- Guest post on at least five other blogs.
- Attend a blogger’s conference.
- Have an estore and an affiliate program.
- Make $150 a month from the blog by the end of the year.
However, in my attempts to succeed professionally, I failed to spend much time working on my personal goals. My weight only changed when my thyroid went crazy. My home is still unorganized, although some of the piles have been rearranged.
So, I am taking a blogging break. For the next two weeks, I am going to spend time with my family and time on my knees. I am going to be cleaning like a crazy woman to rid my home of germs. I am going to be evaluating what my goals should be for the New Year.
I would certainly appreciate it if you would just take a moment to pray for me: that my family would regain their health, that I would gain a fresh perspective on how to balance my time, and that I would hear from the Lord about the direction I should go in my personal and professional life in the next year.
Thank you so much.

Praying for you. I too am taking break frm my blog to focus on my family during holidays.
Wonderful, Lydia. Enjoy your break. I pray you will come back stronger than ever.
I will be praying for you! I completely understand the need for balance and how chaotic it can get when the balance shifts one way or another.
Thank you, Wendy. So glad to know that I am not alone.
Praying for you. Everyone needs a break, hoping you come back relaxed, refreshed and healthier.
I appreciate those kind and encouraging words so much. Thank you, Sharyce.
Praying for you, sweet friend. I am also going to be taking a break. We must keep our priorities in line.
Priorities are so hard to keep straight for me, and taking a break is a nerve-racking thought. You know… traffic is golden and all that stuff. But, I think when we can follow God, He can take care of the rest. Right?
You are such an inspiration to me! I hope you enjoy your break and also enjoy your family.
This is a verse I have been praying (I hope it will help you too):
Jeremiah 42:3 (NIV) – Pray that the Lord your God will tell us where we should go and what we should do.
This would cover our New Year’s resolutions too!
Wonderful verse, Amber. I must admit that I don’t feel like an inspiration. LOL There are days when I feel like I am barely holding it all together. I appreciate the encouragement very much. 🙂
Of course Penny you and your family are in our prayers! taking a break is probably well deserved! Think I might take a chapter out of that book myself 8) Happiest of Holidays!
Thanks, Melissa. You should take a break. Enjoy the season and your family. 🙂
I hope that you enjoy your break and that it gives you a happy end to your year. I will be praying for you, your health and your family as we celebrate the Christmas holiday and welcome a new year.
Thank you, Jamie. We appreciate the prayers tremendously. Without the prayers of precious readers like you, we would not have made it through the stresses and illnesses of this year. To God be the glory! He has worked through His people and blessed us. Merry Christmas!
Tabitha,
Please PM me on Facebook or contact me through the speaker page at my website. I have a gift for you that will help you as you reflect on your priorities
I certainly will, Shelley. Thank you. 🙂
My heart was deeply stirred to read this lovely post! Is it any wonder you are loved SO much? :-* Continuing to pray for you and yours…take some deep breaths and enjoy that break! Hugs to you Sweet Dear. XO
Thank you, Marsha. My children are excited about sitting with me face to face and doing things we do not ordinarily do. I’m looking forward to reading the books I got for Christmas LAST year. 😉
