Sermon Notes for Kids Review and Giveaway

Share & Help Me Grow

I used to be a Children’s Minister. Have I ever told you that? I believed that children belonged in the church service beside their parents and talked about how parents are the ultimate role model for worship… and then I had kids.

When we joined a congregation where the children had a separate service and I no longer had to balance the needs of a child with sensory issues with my own desire to enjoy the service, my tune changed. Not that I think children should NOT be in worship… quite the contrary! It’s just that I became accustomed to the “easy thing to do.”

Now, our church is shifting gears and our two oldest children will be seated with us during the worship service. Picturing myself sandwiched between Miss Autism and Mr ADHD, I went on a search for a sermon notebook my children could use to help channel their wiggly bodies and busy minds.

Sermon Notes for Kids - a great activity book to help children stay occupied but pay attention during church. (Review)

About Sermon Notes for Kids

Sermon Notes for Kids was written by Jill Connelly, a home educating mother of four children, after sitting with her children and providing them with activities to engage their minds in the worship service.

The journal contains several pages for each of the seven activities included. These activities are not just to keep your child busy but to help your child pay attention, learn to take notes, practice handwriting, memorize Scripture, and understand key words they hear during the church service.

Some parental involvement is required for some of the activities but this allows you to personalize the journal to match each individual worship experience.

While all of the activities are wonderful, I personally love the section where children can get the signatures of special speakers along with their favorite verses from the Bible. What an awesome way to build up heroes of the faith in the minds of our children!

Take a tour of Sermon Notes for Kids

This video gives an excellent introduction to the activities included in Sermon Notes for Kids as well as tips for how to use the book with younger children. Each activity has a significant impact on encouraging your child to pay attention during the service.

As you can see, Sermon Notes for Kids is an excellent resource for training your children to participate in a church service.

“Dangers of the Digital Bible” stood out to me, because I’m not really liking a digital Bible at church. It’s great if you’re on the go, but I don’t really like it other than that.
