Super Bowl Party Ideas

Share & Help Me Grow

In the south, we have four seasons: winter, spring, summer, and FOOTBALL. And, in this house, we are VERY southern. We love football. While SEC football is our favorite, we love the NFL too and use the Super Bowl as our transition into spring.

If you have been planning a party for the big game, keep in mind that the Super Bowl is about three main things: the game, the commercials, and the food.

Decorating Ideas ~

The most important thing you can remember about having a Super Bowl party is that you need a television (tuned to the game) in every room… or at least one that is easily accessible to your buffet area.

The teams who will play in the Super Bowl have yet to be determined, so it would be safe to decorate with a generic football theme. Choose green and brown party decorations. Typically, I go for solid colored paper plates (because they are cheaper) and then a specialty napkin.

Since so much focus is placed on the food, I only decorate around my table. It’s cheaper and it gives the party a focal point. You can cover your table with a brown plastic table cover and then place a green runner down the middle. If you are feeling creative, mark the runner with goals lines using a white paint pen or white tape. Sprinkle the table with football confetti.

I am big into food as a centerpiece so I would make a football cake and let it rest in the center of the table. However, you could always fill a large white bowl with green raffia and then stack footballs of all sizes. When the teams are determined, stick a flag for each team into the nest of footballs.

To make the flags, fold a piece of cardstock over a bamboo skewer and glue. Print two logos for each team and cut them out. Glue the logos onto the cardstock flags, with one logo on each side.

Over your table, create a canopy of green and brown streamers. You can add the team colors once we know who is playing. Just alternate the colors, stringing them from the walls into the center over the table. Allow the ends of the streamers to hang down from the center gathering point about two feet. Print out footballs or team logos on cardstock and cut them out, gluing them back to back. Punch a hole in one side and tie a long piece of curling ribbon to the hole. Hang the footballs from the center of your streamers, allowing them to dangle over the center of the table with the streamers.

Food ~

Think “man food.” Hot. Spicy. Tangy. Appetizers. I have a ton of fantastic football food on Pinterest.

Games ~

Remember folding paper and playing football in middle school? Why not provide your guests with some brown cardstock and allow them to recreate that memory.

Of course, the commercials are a game on their own. Allow your guests to keep track of their favorite commercials and then have them vote on their favorites.

We love your site and passion for football. Even you really want to ramp up your superbowl party, check our football party game out. You play while watching LIVE football. Players make predictions against each on what they think will happen NEXT in the game.

    Great for parties.
