It seems like every November we get inundated with gratitude exercises, activities and sentiments and it’s easy to start glazing over it all after a while.
But don’t.
When we actively practice gratitude, we immediately feel richer and happier, not to mention more blessed and content. I think we all know this, but it’s just too easy sometimes to focus on what we don’t have rather than all that we do.
That’s why its important to look at gratitude as a practice rather than a quality or state of mind. Whether it’s by keeping a journal, using a gratitude board, or incorporating thankfulness into prayer, it is the habit you form that matters.

I thought these gratitude magnets would be fun because they serve as constant reminders of all our blessings.
All you need for this project is some pretty paper, a shape cutter (or scissors), markers, and a spool of magnet strip that has sticky side (sold at a craft store).
First, cut out your shapes of paper using a shape cutter or just plain old scissors.
Then write out one thing you are grateful for on one of the pieces.
Next, cut out a small square of magnet from your spool, peel off paper so sticky part is exposed and stick to the back of your cutout.
Finally, stick them on a refrigerator or other metal surface.
If you have metal doors like we do, you can even put them there. It’s nice to be reminded of all of our blessings as we head out for the day.
Plus, it’s a great way for kids to be start learning the art of thankfulness. You can keep a jar of cutouts and markers at the table and let them fill one out whenever the mood strikes 🙂
It’s fun to watch the fridge or door fill up with magnets because it shows how much we have to be grateful for, during the holidays and year round.
