No doubt about it. If you are looking for a frugal solution for a tight dinner budget, beans and rice can solve the problem every time. However, eating a steady diet of beans and rice can be boring.
So, I wanted to create a link up where you can share your beans and/or rice recipes. No rules. Just recipes.
Only one request… spread the word. Whether you are linking up a few recipes or just browsing for some new ideas, this list will not become “The Ultimate Beans & Rice Recipe List” without your help. Please share this post on Facebook, tweet on Twitter, and pin on Pinterest. Thanks so much!
I love beans and rice!! Can’t wait to see what everyone links up! Thanks for hosting! Will pin & tweet!
What a great idea, Tabitha!! I’m pinning and sharing on FB!
For less gas, when you soak the beans, add a little apple cider vinegar (or any vinegar would do). The longer you let them soak, the less gas they will produce also. I try and soak mine for 1 1/2 – 2 days. Drain and rinse the beans. Cook how you desire. I like to use my crock pot for beans. It’s easy and I don’t have to check on it. I usually add smoked ham hocks or ham to my beans for flavor before cooking. I add salt and butter (and hickory smoke flavor, if using ham that is not smoked) to my bowl before eating. Some of my kids don’t care for beans, so I have been making them for lunches and storing them in the fridge (I homeschool, so all my kids are at home and they can always have something else for lunch). This also makes it easy for my husband to take some to work for his lunch as well. Thanks for the recipes! 🙂
Thanks Dee for the great tip! Will have to try that!
I wanna say thank you, too—-on behalf a family member who can eat only canned beans. You may have changed our life, Dee!
And thank you to everyone else for the great recipes and tips. 🙂
Thanks for hosting this fun and frugal party! I’m excited to check out the recipes too. I also shared this party at Facebook – =)
What a great idea for a linky party! Thanks so much! Pinning and sharing via FB! 🙂
Awesome ultimate list!! what a fabulous resource.
Thank you for this list. We love eating beans and rice!
Just a reminder that you may not want to eat very much rice if you are expecting, breast feeding, or serving it to young children. There have been concerns about unsafe arsenic levels in rice grown in Texas, Arkansas, etc. which is where about 70% of our rice comes from.

Love this! I included my recipe for refried beans and one for what our family calls beany tomato. Going to pin it too! because I have a feeling I will be visiting this for cooking inspiration this winter.
Hi, Penny
Gosh I really need to add my recipe on here, when I get the chance to make and post it (great idea you have here). It’s Santo Domingan carribean beans and rice. I learned it a long time ago as a little girl from my grandmothers next door neighbors who were from Santo Domingo and they make theirs with green pigeon peas. I love it and make it usually twice a month. I’ll keep in mind to post here, can’t wait to try some of these great recipes, especially the lime cilantro rice, yummy! Great Post!! ~Christina
