Tuesday’s Tips: In the Laundry Room

Share & Help Me Grow

frugal tips for the laundry room
When you open a new container of liquid fabric softener or laundry detergent, check the back of the container to see where your fill line should be. It is almost never to the top! Make a mark with a permanent marker on the line to remind you and anyone else doing laundry in your home not to use too much.

Cut dryer sheets in half before using. They still work just as well. Keep a kleenex box on the dryer for the used ones – use to dust furniture.

Always empty the lint trap every single time you dry clothes in the dryer. This allows your dryer to heat and dry the clothes more efficiently and prevents a fire hazard.

Use a mesh bag when washing/drying socks, especially baby socks or place “stranger” socks without matches in a basket next to the washer. Once a month or so, sit down with the basket and sort the matches.

Make your own Spray Starch – 2 tablespoons cornstarch + 1 pint cold water. Place in spray bottle and shake well before each use.

Some of these tips were borrowed from The Frugal Shopper.

About Tabitha

Hi! I'm Tabitha! But, I bet you expected someone named "Penny." Long story made short, Penny is the coupon binder I started in 2010 when we were totally broke... as in BANKRUPT. Now, as a mom of five, I make 6-figures a year working at home and share ways to help you move from penny to profit while you raise a family with sense on cents.
