A Unique Way to Give Cash for Christmas

Share & Help Me Grow

Sometimes, you just want to give cash for Christmas. Maybe the person has everything or perhaps they NEED everything. Or, maybe it is a teen who is just excited to have money to spend. Whatever the reason, you might be looking for a unique way to give cash as a gift and I have one that I used last year to share with you.

Cute and unique way to give cash as a gift.

Last year, I wanted to be the Aunt of the Year so I gave my niece and nephew two of their most favorite things… cash and candy. However, I didn’t want to 1) mail cash and 2) just send a card. I wanted a more fun way to give cash as a present.

I started with empty (clean) toilet paper rolls, tissue paper, canning jars (with lids), packaging tape, scissors, and cash.

First, slide the money into the toilet paper tube.

Then wrap the tube in tissue paper, cutting it to fit but leaving enough to push extra into the holes on each side. You do not want to leave these open because they will fill up with candy.

Attach packaging tape to one end of the tube and stick it into your canning jar. The tape helps hold the tube in place while you are pouring the candy around the tube.

Finally, fill up the remaining space with candy. Top with the lid and wrap as you wish.

Can you imagine the surprise when that special person thinks all they received was candy but… my, oh my… there is a secret stash of cash inside?!?!

About Tabitha

Hi! I'm Tabitha! But, I bet you expected someone named "Penny." Long story made short, Penny is the coupon binder I started in 2010 when we were totally broke... as in BANKRUPT. Now, as a mom of five, I make 6-figures a year working at home and share ways to help you move from penny to profit while you raise a family with sense on cents.

Thank you for sharing…Old people like me can’t do what they use to do so I appreciate others sharing their “secrets” to making things festive, cute and unique! Grand kids especially!

What a magnificent idea! Thank you so much for sharing it. Since we have 9 grandchildren that are all tweens, teens and older, this can become really fun for all of them.

Were you not worried that they may throw the tube away thinking it was just “filling” for the jar?

Never crossed my mind. I think the oddity of it would make them curious.

Just a suggestion. You could use a paper towel tube (which can be cut to whatever length to come to the top of the jar and then you could use plastic wrap ( instead of tissue paper) so the recipient could see the money when they opened the jar to eat his/her favorite candy you put in. Fun and clever way to give money as a gift.
