Finding the perfect Valentine’s Day gift for him or her can be stressful. Why? I really don’t know. Maybe it has to do with us being sooo in love that we want to find a gift that exemplifies that emotion, but let’s be real. No gift will ever encompass that feeling… but still, we try.
Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas for Him
I asked my husband for ideas on this list and he looked at me with a blank stare. Is it that men don’t want anything for Valentine’s Day? I’m not sure.
Respect
I know the one thing my husband wants from me more than anything else… my respect. He wants to be known as my hero and he doesn’t want to hear me nag about what he has not done. So, for one full day, why not push the list of unfinished chores aside and leave him notes scattered around detailing all that you appreciate about him?
A Night Out with the Guys
Surprise him with a Fandango Gift Card and permission to take his best friend to the movies. You can even have those gift cards emailed to him.
Tribute to Video Games
A lot of men love to escape to another dimension through video games. Gather a basket of goodies as a tribute to his favorite game. Does he love Minecraft? Give him a Creeper T-shirt, some rock candy, and an afternoon to mine his heart out.
Never Forget Nerf
Does he know the way to your heart? Tell him that he hits the mark every time with a Nerf gun and a target. Even grown-up boy still love toys. Or, upgrade the gift with a pistol BB gun and cans for practice shooting.
Beer, Boxers, and Sex
One gift that most men will always appreciate is a favorite beverage and the invitation to get naked. So, if in doubt, create a coupon book of favors, and give him a subtle nudge towards the bedroom.

Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas for Her
Let’s be honest… all she really wants for Valentine’s Day is to know that she is truly appreciated. How you choose to show her that love and respect can vary but don’t let the day slip away without making her feel VERY special.
Time Alone
Want your wife to feel relaxed and ready for your companionship on Valentine’s Day night? Give her some time alone. No kids banging on the door. No phone ringing. Just some peace and quiet to do as she pleases.
Pampering
Fill a basket with the scents and sensations that she loves, and I don’t mean those pre-made baskets. No… or at least take the plastic off and add some special touches. Put it her favorite beauty cream, bath salts, aromatherapy shower steamers, and fragrance. Add a manicure or pedicure kit.
Massage Without Expectations
One of my favorite gifts of all time was when my husband gave me a gift certificate for a massage and then made sure that I used it by offering to keep the kids. If a gift certificate is too pricey for your budget, offer to give her a massage yourself… with no strings attached. Know what I mean? If you are expecting something to follow the massage, then it really is not a gift.
Sweets for Her Sweet-tooth
Vintage candies or just a foil-lined box of homemade chocolate-dipped strawberries can be quite a special gift. But if she isn’t into chocolate – pardon me while I ponder how that is possible – then create a basket of her favorite fruits or salty snacks.
A Passionate Pick
What does she love? I mean, other than YOU. Never underestimate the value in a beautiful coffee mug or teacup given with a specialty coffee or tea. A beautiful writing pen with a fresh journal can give the invitation to open her heart on the page. Thrill her hands with sewing or craft kits, knitting or crochet needles. Tickle her funny bone with a favorite romantic comedy.
Creative Kids
A simple but precious gift from your children can be a wonderful surprise as she considers that you took time to be with your children to make her something special. Make refrigerator magnets from their artwork or pictures. Create a bookmark of their faces to give with a new book.
