We Choose Virtues Parenting Cards Review (and Giveaway)

Share & Help Me Grow

I have no idea where it started, perhaps in the Garden of Eden with the first sin, but somewhere our society started a slide into selfishness. Kind people are fewer and harder to find. People seem to have more inhibitions, more fears.

That is exactly why it is important for me to train my children in character.

One day, if we find there is only a tiny group of honest, kind, and diligent people left on the planet, I want it to be my children to be among them.  But I will tell you the truth, we have a long way to go until they exhibit these characteristics.

About We Choose Virtues

We Choose Virtues is a wonderful part of our family and I have shared with you about their products previously…

  • Virtue Flash Cards Review
  • Using We Choose Virtues for discipline (free printable Virtue Meter)

I love these brightly-colored characters designed by Pete Sutton and the truths they teach. However, I think the thing I love the most about We Choose Virtues is the person who created it.

A lovely lady, passionate about seeing children transformed into the people God designed them to be, and as sincere as they come, Heather McMillan is an example of the kind of person I want to be. To me, she epitomizes the characters she designed.

Please join me in praying for Heather as she battles cancer. Her faith is tremendous and her family is strong, but I think knowing that we are praying for her will help even more.

We Choose Virtues Parenting Cards explained

Using We Choose Virtues for character education

Finding popular role models of character in our society is difficult. Even those musicians and actors who seem to have it all together find themselves giving way to the pressure of the constant attention. I want to be a great role model to my children, but they seem oblivious to my intent and more focused on what I consider “artificial life.”

So, I use the characters of We Choose Virtues to entertain my children. Their delightful faces greet our children every day from the side of the refrigerator where our Virtue Meter rests. Oh, how I dream that one day we might have We Choose Virtues cartoons to watch on television.

The MINI Posters are the newest edition to our family and I plan to display one next to our calendar each month, giving us a theme. These virtues will be the focus of my intents towards the children… and myself because I need more character training too.

We Choose Virtues review and giveaway

Using We Choose Virtues as a parenting guide

When Ariary was born, Bill and I joked that after four children God had blessed us with an easy child or we had finally mastered the Art of Parenting. Yeah… it was definitely a God-thing because we really stink as this parenting gig. Knowing that God can use our mistakes to develop their lives for His glory is an amazing comfort.

We need the We Choose Virtues Parenting Cards.

Too often, Bill and I look for the un-lovely in our children, and we seek to discipline the offenses. The times when we encourage, praise, and point out the wonderful qualities are far fewer than those moments when we are correcting. We need to know positive ways to demonstrate character to bring about change in our caterpillars and see them become butterflies. The Parenting Cards from We Choose Virtues are a wonderful tool that provide the lessons and ideas for training our children in character while taking very little prep time.

Oh, I think the flash cards would get the most use by us. Toss them in my bag on one of those rings and talk about them at home & on the go when ever we need to “review” them!

Sounds like what I have been looking for. I had ordered books on Proverbs from a seller on ebay and never received them. With all that is pulling on our children we need to take special care to mold them into what God would have them to be. Appreciate all the work you have put into this! Looks great.

I really like that the focus is that it is on character, who you are when NO ONE is watching. That is what we are teaching in my family. It doesn’t matter if momma or daddy aren’t right there we still need to have Godly character.
