We are in need of some virtue in our home. Lately, my children have been overtaken by the greedy bug, the gimmees, and the “I wants.” As soon as I opened this pack of virtue flash cards from We Choose Virtues, I immediately looked for one on contentment.
I called Lira over and asked if she wanted to look through the cards with me. Lira read about contentment first but didn’t stop there. She was so intrigued that she wanted to read them all.
One by one, she read through each card including the definition, antonyms, and Scripture reference.
After she had finished the cards, I tried to put them away but she wasn’t done yet. School was in session and Princess Peach had some learning to do. After she “taught” the stuffed doll about each virtue, Lira turned her attention to her brothers. They were not as impressed by Lira’s teaching style but I was pleased to see her trying to practice what she was learning.
On the Virtue Flash Cards
The cards are brightly illustrated and fun to read.
Each virtue is presented with an active “I AM” voice. The card includes a definition and then affirms the reader by stating “I am NOT…” with a list of opposites. The Scriptures are in a child-friendly translation and directly apply to the virtue on each card.
The pack of cards comes with ideas for helping families use the cards but I enjoyed watching Lira come up with her own ideas. We even plan on acting out a puppet show and I think the Virtue Flash Cards would be an excellent resource to help reinforce positive discipline when the children are behaving badly.

I have wanted to try “We Choose Virtues”. Awesome giveaway!
We need the self-control, and attentiveness in this household! Please oh please! 🙂 With three girls I think this would come in very handy and give me a basis to give them now when they are small to hopefully help in those tween years that I know are coming even though they are 6, 4 and 19 months.
Which virtue involves finding your own things without having to get mom to help you search for them? 😉
