The VeggieTales have been a part of our family for eight years. The theme song is a frequent pick for the last song before bedtime and remember… those vibrant vegetables even made our top ten favorite books list! So, when Phil Vischer created the What’s in the Bible series, we had to check it out. The children loved Volume 1 and seemed to develop this affection for “PONIES!!!!”
When I told the kiddos that we were blessed with the opportunity to review Volume 3 of the What’s in the Bible series, the chorus was loud and strong. “PONIES!” Every day that we checked the mail… “Are the PONIES here yet?” Finally, the DVD arrived and the children had the wrapper off before I could even find the camera.
Snuggled into their chairs, they chatted excitedly about whether or not the PONIES were going to be in this What’s in the Bible episode. I was so afraid they would be disappointed. I thought that if PONIES did not come up soon, they would lose interest.
I was wrong.
You see, it was not the PONIES that kept them glued to the television. Nope. They loved the music. The characters.
But, what were they learning?

Something amazing that I didn’t expect
One thing happened after watching Volume 3 of What’s in the Bible that completely caught me by surprise.
After watching the movie, my children wanted to find Bibles to look at, flip through, and sleep with. Picture books would not suffice. They wanted to look at my Bible. At Bill’s Bible.
The children wanted to see the books of Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy.
My children were learning to appreciate… learning to LOVE the Bible.

I like how easy the site is to navigate. Also, the Parent’s page is so cool! It’s one thing to purchase a set of DVD’s, it’s another thing to purchase them and have a lesson plan available to you. If I am able to squeeze this item into my homeschooling budget this year, you bet i’ll be using their Study Guide, FlashCards, and coloring pages! I’m assuming they are working on creating study guides for all the DVD’s ~ not just the first one 🙂

I like the blog topic for today. It is so relevant to what is going on with me and my family right now and dealing with fear and how God is to be our refuge in times of trouble!
I wish to God all curriculum was visually entertaining while educating like this! I just want to get a huge bowl of cereal with my kids and get in front of the DVD player and let this begin our Bible study. Older people do love cartoons and it is presented visually inthe way that the more abstract ideas are simple and visual (such as geneaology to Jesus). Also, it lined up with scripture. Can I have a job working for a company as awesome as this?! Should I win, I will ot keep it all to myself though…I have tons of little kiddies to share it with.
I like the digital download option. I also like that there are study guides available to go along with the DVDs, hopefully more come out soon!
I love the curriculum they have put together. I would use it with my son and the kids I teach in children’s church.
I like that you can download videos directly to the computer! I wish I would have known that before our last road trip, they would have been great to watch on the iPad in the car!
I like it that the information is broken down into 25 minute segments because even too much of a good thing is too much.

Awww…..I missed it!!! 🙁 I just learned of this, and was hoping for a chance to win one. We are having some very very difficult financial problems right now, but despite all this, my 6 year old daughter made the decision to accept Christ as her personal savior and she was baptized as well! This was a great fear-inducing prospect for her as she is scared of water, but she did it! No tears! She said God was with her and would not let her get hurt. 🙂
