On Memorial Day, PennyMom and I were cooking side by side when she let out a scream. I looked up to find a raccoon on the window’s edge, chowing down on the cat’s food. PennyMom’s cat, Miss Boots, was not amused but my children went nuts.
For a while, he chose to hang from the brick and nibble the cat food graciously.
As I got closer to take his picture, he seemed to pose.
The children called him a cat and I think he was slightly offended. We inserted a lesson on raccoons.
Then, he made himself at home.
On the way back to our house after dinner, we discussed how some people refer to raccoons as bandits because of their mask-like features and behavior. The kids decided that was his name.
PennyMom would be happy if “Bandit” moved westward.
